About Us

THR Afghanistan is a scholarship project sponsored by Knowledge-Action-Change (KAC) UK, which focuses on promoting safer, low-risk alternatives by providing comprehensive, accurate, and transparent information to smokers and the general public worldwide, with a particular emphasis on developing countries that account for over 80 percent of the global smoking population.

Established in 2021, THR Afghanistan is a pioneering initiative and the first of its kind in the country, aimed at helping smokers improve their health and well-being by leveraging THR strategies. These innovative public health approaches have demonstrated success in improving smokers' health in many other countries. The overall aim of THR Afghanistan is to enhance the health of smokers by raising awareness about the dangers of smoking and providing science-backed information to empower individuals to make informed choices, thereby reducing the harms associated with smoking. THR Afghanistan assists smokers in Afghanistan to switch to safer alternatives where they cannot quit smoking combustible cigarettes.
